THE AGE OF BRONZE - PRIDE

Watercolor on bristol board, 1992
Original drawing 30" X 22"

The transition between virtue and sin, love and fear. Of course it means Greek pride but certainly not the way Thomas Aquinas meant it, venal, small, middling, complex, and kaleidoscopic. No, much larger and grandeur to vie with the gods and, oh of course, to fall. The only flaw to move from the Greeks into the medieval mind. But not heroic failure instead petty domestic self inflation.
